New Members

Welcome to our Club! We are happy to welcome you and your dog to our club and look forward to meeting you!

Below is some information to better assist you when you come to sign up.

To join you must come to the location you wish to train at on the enrolment date, for that month.  This is normally the last Sunday of  every second month and the last Wednesday of every second month. You do not bring your dog to sign up; you will commence training with your dog the following week.

We ask that for your first 4 weeks of training in our beginner’s class, you train only at the location you have signed up at. This allows us to better manage the number of instructors we need per beginners class. Once you have graduated from beginners, you may come to whichever training day you would like or both.

On enrolment day, you will fill in membership forms and pay joining fees and your membership fee.  You will then join other new starters and hear about our ground rules and training method.  You need to bring the vaccination certificate and microchip details and your registration fee.

We would like you to come 30 minutes early to allow time to complete and settle your registration forms and fees so we can make a good start at this session.

Our Chief instructor will then take you through an induction discussing our Club’s training methods, what equipment you may need and will answer any questions you may have.

Our classes comprise of beginners, then classes going from 1st up to 4th class, as the dog and handler becomes more proficient. While we like to see all our members continue and stay with us, it is up to you, to decide what you want to get out of your training and whilst we see people progressing into advanced classes, we see also see many members who only wish to get their dog to be more stable and sociable.

Please Note:
Penrith Kennel & Obedience Club Inc accepts the use of most types of properly fitted flat, fixed or slip (check) collars and halties for training purposes. We do not recommend the use of body/ tracking/ sledding/ car harnesses at training as well as chain link leads, as these can make it difficult to safely control your dog whilst on the grounds.
